Hearing Aids with marked directional characteristics cannnot be tested in ordinary test chambers
because the sound field in those chambers is more or less diffuse. So
far these measurements deshalb in had to be performed in an anechoic
chamber. The TWS system can substitute the anechoic chamber for
most tests.
The special speaker developed by TWS has
a small emission surface and a special shape preventing mostly
reflections at
the speakters casing. It is placed on the floor of the lab.
The hearing aid is placed ca. 50 cm above the speaker.

The software separates the direct sound from the
reflected sound using mathematical methods. This procedure works quite good in the frequency range covered by hearing aids.
